Certosa di Pontignano, b&b in Chianti, Siena, Toscana

The italian garden

Quite unique, with a breathtaking view of the countryside and the city of Siena, precious pearl of the Certosa di Pontignano, is the italian-style garden under the balcony of the Villa.

Protected by monumental legislative costraint for its originality and world-class value, this precious piece of paradise reflects all the traditional rules of an italian renaissance garden, with typical influences of the French period, found in the geometry and in the cut of boxwoods, which close the bottom of the garden, and the laurel tunnel leading to the botanical area.

On the right, the garden hosts the limonaia of the Certosa, a magical place adorned with aromatic plants, that, during winter, keeps and protects almost one hundred old trees of lemon. From spring to autumn these plants are moved back to the garden, as magnificent ornament and source of scents.

A huge centenary plant of Magnolia dominates the green garden instilling respect and admiration, while right in front of it flowering vines embrace the balcony of the villa forming a unique combination.

At the center, geometric traditional italian boxwood bushes, evergreen and perfectly shaped, host seasonal flowers rich in color and perfumes; to be admire the 16th century marble fountain used for the water supply of the plants. The green terrace, overlooking the vineyards, completes the garden, a green corner isolated and not visible from outside in which find relax or organize small lunches or dinners.

The precious botanical garden, bound by the legislation as a monumental masterpiece, has plants typical of the Chianti region, fruit trees and herbs that fascinate the visitor for its simple beauty.

The italian garden is perfect for events and dinners up to a hundred people or aperitifs for even more people. The covered balcony of the villa can hold 90/100 seats with gala tables, while the garden can accommodate corners for the preparation of appetizers. With the favor of night, the evocative lighting system of the villa makes the garden available for candlelight diners, where guests, whilst sipping a glass of Chianti wine, can enjoy this unique show.

The balcony over the italian garden is directly connected with the main rooms of the villa: the sala del focolare, the sala Certosa, the sala dell'affresco, fitful for small events, the suggestive fireplace room, the sala delle bugie, ideal for gala dinners up to 50 guests. Here the numerous service entrances make it ideal for catering services that need to work without getting noticed by guests.
